Creating your first website — the onboarding flow

What happens when you create a new website — the three build modes, how to answer the setup questions, and what EasyWebie does with your answers.

1

Starting the process

In your dashboard, click New Website. EasyWebie creates a blank website record and immediately takes you to the onboarding screen.

The onboarding screen is a short guided setup — it collects the information the builder needs to personalise your website. You only go through this once per website.

2

Step 0 — Choose your build mode

The first screen asks how you want to build. There are three options:

Quick template build (all plans)

Start from a professionally designed template matched to your business type. Fastest option — your website is ready in under 10 seconds. You then edit all the text, colors, and images in the builder. Uses 0 AI credits.

Full AI build (Pro plan)

Claude Sonnet AI generates your entire website from scratch — writing all the content, choosing the layout, and applying a style that fits your business. Takes 2–4 minutes. Uses AI credits from your monthly allowance.

AI Brand Build (Starter plan)

A hybrid: starts from a template, then Sonnet AI enhances every section using your business description, logo, and hero image. Takes 3–5 minutes. Produces more personalised results than the template alone. Available on Starter plan. Uses 4 Sonnet credits.

3

Step 1 — Business name

Enter the name of your business exactly as you want it to appear on your website — in your hero headline, nav bar, footer, and page title.

This is injected automatically into every section. If your business name has unusual capitalisation or punctuation (like a camelCase brand name), enter it exactly as you want it displayed.

4

Step 2 — Business type

Select the category that best describes your business from 30 options:

Restaurant/Café · Bakery & Sweets · Home Chef/Cloud Kitchen · Hotel & Homestay · Salon & Spa · Gym & Fitness · Spa & Wellness · Clinic/Doctor · Dental Clinic · Pet Care & Vet · Catering & Events · Wedding Planner · Retail Shop · Fashion & Clothing · Jewelry & Accessories · Photography · Interior Design · Music & Dance Studio · Portfolio/Freelancer · Tutoring & Education · Driving School · Business Consulting · Accounting & Finance · Digital Agency · Legal Services · Real Estate · Automotive & Garage · Cleaning Service · NGO & Non-profit · Other

The business type determines:

Which template is auto-recommended
The section types pre-selected for your website
The tone and vocabulary AI uses in your content
The icon and placeholder content in each section
5

Step 3 — Template picker (template mode only)

If you chose "Quick template build" or "AI Brand Build", you see a template picker after selecting your business type.

EasyWebie automatically recommends the template that best matches your business type — it is highlighted with a "Recommended" label. You can use this recommendation or scroll to browse all available templates (including admin-added ones specific to your business category).

Click any template to see a name and description. Click Use this template to confirm your choice.

The chosen template determines the overall visual style of your initial website — the colors, layout pattern, and section arrangement.

6

Step 4 — City or location

Enter the city or area where your business operates — for example "Mumbai", "Chennai", or "Bengaluru".

This is used in two ways:

1Injected into location-relevant content (e.g. "Serving Chennai since 2018" in your about section)
2Helps AI write geographically relevant copy if you use the AI build modes

For businesses without a fixed location (remote services, nationwide delivery), you can enter your service area ("Pan India") or leave it broad ("India").

7

Step 5 — Brand tone

Choose the voice and personality of your website content:

Friendly — warm, approachable, conversational. Good for: salons, cafes, tutoring, wellness, restaurants.

Professional — clean, formal, trustworthy. Good for: clinics, legal, accounting, consulting, real estate.

Bold — strong, energetic, attention-grabbing. Good for: gyms, agencies, fashion, automotive, events.

The tone affects every word AI writes for your website — headlines, descriptions, and CTA text. You can always change the tone later by asking AI to rewrite specific sections in a different voice.

Steps 6–7 — AI Brand Build extras (Starter plan only)

If you chose the AI Brand Build, two extra steps follow:

Step 6 — Business description

Write a short paragraph (2–5 sentences) about your business: what you do, who your customers are, what makes you different. This is fed directly to Sonnet AI to personalise the content.

*Example: "We are a family-run South Indian restaurant in Coimbatore, known for our traditional Chettinad cooking. Open since 2011, we serve over 200 families daily and specialise in authentic curries and fresh-ground masalas. Our team of 8 chefs trained under regional masters."*

Step 7 — Logo and hero image (optional)

Upload your business logo (PNG recommended for transparency). Upload or select a hero background image or video — this appears as the full-width background on your homepage hero section.

Both uploads are stored in your media library for reuse. If you skip this step, the AI uses your brand colors to create a visually appealing design without a photo.

9

What happens next — the build

After you confirm the last step, EasyWebie builds your website:

Template build: Instant (under 10 seconds). The template sections are assembled with your business name, city, and type filled in. You are taken directly to the builder.

AI Brand Build (Starter): 3–5 minutes. A progress screen shows each stage — template load → logo upload → hero image upload → AI brand enhancement. Rotating tip messages keep you informed. Keep the tab open.

Full AI build (Pro): 2–4 minutes. Sonnet AI generates each section one by one. A progress bar advances as each section is built.

After the build completes, you land in the builder with your homepage fully populated. From here you can edit any section, add new ones, and publish when ready.
