Analytics — tracking your website traffic
How to see who is visiting your website, where they come from, and how to connect Google Analytics 4 for deeper insights.
In this guide
Two analytics systems, working together
Every published EasyWebie website gets two layers of analytics:
1. Built-in traffic dashboard (automatic)
Cloudflare Web Analytics is enabled automatically the first time you publish. It tracks page views, unique visitors, top countries, and device types — no setup needed from you. View it in Dashboard → your site card → Analytics.
2. Google Analytics 4 (optional)
If you want deeper data — conversion tracking, user behaviour flows, custom events, or Google Search Console integration — you can connect your own Google Analytics 4 property. This requires creating a free GA4 account and pasting your Measurement ID into the publish page.
Viewing the built-in analytics dashboard
The analytics page shows:
Data updates approximately every 30 minutes. Brand-new sites may show zero for the first hour after publishing — this is normal while Cloudflare's reporting catches up.
Note: Analytics only appear for published sites. Draft-only sites have no tracking.
Setting up Google Analytics 4
Google Analytics 4 is free and gives you much more detailed insights than the built-in dashboard. Follow these steps:
Step 1 — Create a Google Analytics account
Step 2 — Create a GA4 property
Step 3 — Add a Web data stream
mybakery.easywebie.com)Step 4 — Copy your Measurement ID
After creating the stream, you will see a screen headed "Web stream details". Look for the Measurement ID — it looks like G-XXXXXXXXXX. Copy it.
Step 5 — Add it to your EasyWebie site
Finding your Measurement ID later
If you need to find your Measurement ID again after setup:
G-XXXXXXXXXX) is shown in the top right of the panelThis is the same ID you paste into the EasyWebie publish page.
Updating or changing your GA4 ID
If you need to change your Google Analytics Measurement ID (for example, you created a new GA4 property or made a typo):
G-XXXXXXXXXX IDThe new ID will be embedded in your site from that point forward. Old IDs stop receiving data as soon as the site is republished.
To remove GA tracking entirely, leave the field blank when republishing.
Why use both systems?
The built-in Cloudflare analytics and Google Analytics 4 serve different purposes:
| Feature | Built-in (Cloudflare) | Google Analytics 4 |
|---|---|---|
| Setup required | None — automatic | Yes — create GA4 account |
| Page views & visitors | ✓ | ✓ |
| Daily traffic chart | ✓ | ✓ |
| Top countries | ✓ | ✓ |
| Devices | ✓ | ✓ |
| Bounce rate / session time | — | ✓ |
| Conversion tracking | — | ✓ |
| User flow analysis | — | ✓ |
| Search Console integration | — | ✓ |
| Cookie consent required | No (privacy-first) | Yes (in most regions) |
For most small businesses, the built-in dashboard is enough to understand basic traffic patterns. Connect GA4 when you need to track specific goals — form submissions, purchases, or how visitors navigate your site.
